Many variables contribute to our quality of sleep, like stress-levels and whether or not we exercise. A less obvious factor is what bedroom colors we choose to design or paint with. When selecting paint colors for bedrooms, the first thing to consider is temperature. While warm colors advance toward the eye and appear more active, creating a stimulating effect, cool colors -- the hues from blue green through blue violet, most grays included -- tend to recede, producing a more calming and relaxing effect. That said, there's a lot of variation on the cool color spectrum; a bright green and a pale blue can create spaces with drastically different vibes. If cool colors aren't your cup of tea, warm hues that are light and subtle, such as soft yellows or pinks, can also feel soothing. We turned to a few of our favorite interior designers to hear how they go about selecting paint colors for bedrooms. Read on to get inspired and shop a few chic paint choices.

Neutral paint colors in a bedroom are popular for a reason. Creamy white walls let you play with any color combination in your bedding and accessories. They also have a soothing, recessive quality, which is helpful in a room where you want to relax. Neutrals don't have to be boring, however. Texture is a way to give ivory, taupe, gray, or tan a boost. Choose a glossy paint or add a paint finish that is shimmery or opalescent. You can also use contrast to add interest to a neutral scheme: Paint the walls cappuccino brown and the trimwork a pale café au lait, for example, or put dove gray on the walls and choose dark charcoal carpeting.

"For a sexy or romantic bedroom, I like to stick with dark colors like olive, deep violet, navy (like Rich Navy from Glidden), or charcoal (like Cyberspace from Sherwin-Williams). For clients interested in calm, tranquil bedrooms, I'm quick to suggest a blue-gray, like Krypton from Sherwin-Williams, celery tones, or a layering of white paint with all white furniture and linens. Overall, since bedrooms are meant for relaxation, I try to stay away from high-energy colors like bright greens, deep reds, or bold, tropical hues.

Painting your bedroom ceiling can create a unique visual interest. For a bold look, paint your bed’s headboard wall as a continuous line that carries up to the ceiling, forming a canopy effect like the image below, or add stripes to the ceiling like the black and white bedroom below.

Blue may come in a variety of color tones, but most blue lovers have something in common: a need for peace and harmony. If you chose blue, you’re loyal, have lifelong friends and like a routine. You tend to prefer a space that is clean and organized, so if you chose blue, be sure to not only paint your walls, but also add a little extra storage and organization to your bedroom. You’ll feel more at home and rested in a peaceful, uncluttered blue bedroom.

Orange lovers are highly social and fearless. You love adventure, travel and meeting people. Orange bedroom walls are warm and invoke enthusiasm. It’s one of the top colors of choice in contemporary design. If you’re drawn to orange, it’s time to add some fun to your life (and bedroom walls).

mhpolymerspaint is most important things for walls. If wall paint match according to felling, then it is good for you.And another important thing is Bed sheet .when you go for the bed to take some rest .if the foam bed sheet is not good .you are not comfortable.Charli E.I’m orange, which is totally me! I never thought of painting my bedroom that color but I will try it. It will make me cheerful and happy. I love these new articles on freshome!thecreativeaxisHay there ,Paints are the Important element for house , even while choosing pint we need to be careful , paint plays an important role for the size of the room , as like rich and deep teal dark colour helps rooms look bigger , pink and orange colour gives a retro feel , deep green would be the perfect experiment for your room , high glow yellow is the most beautiful colour , it would be most beautiful when the radiance of the morning sun falls on the wall , navy and red is also the most beautiful combinationI personally love royal and decent colour.fanaticdesignerI adore all of the interiors – except the fourth one, because of the darkness there. Paints are very important while decorating the house, but they are only the addition to the rest of elements. Personally I believe that cushions, carpets and all the details make our interior unique. But the most important thing is to choose appropriate furniture. I prefer corner fabric sofas, because of their practicality. We can not forget that all elements must interact. So sometimes it’s better to choose something more extraordinary, such as retro or modern sofas.

A clean, clear, and bright paint color can be an invigorating shade in a bedroom. If the space doesn't have much natural light, turquoise blue or jade green can give it energy. If the room is flooded with light, a cheerful jonquil yellow will really sing in the morning rays. To find a bright hue, look for paint chips that are not influenced by brown or red. If you aren't sure, hold them against a white piece of paper. Array several chips together, and the brown- or red-tinged ones will look muddy.

Although there are rules on what colors are best for a bedroom, each person has their own preferences and tastes. You may be attracted to an unexpected color whose qualities you may need more of in your life. Forget the traditional rules, pick a color you love and paint your walls.

Using color therapy in your bedroom is as simple as painting the walls. If you’re considering bold colors and want to ease into things, start small. Paint a single wall, add stripes or use the chosen color as your accent color. Share with us, what color personality did you choose?

When someone asks you how you'd like your room to feel, do you answer, "Like a spa"? Then you're in good company. It's the most popular description of bedroom decor right now. To achieve the look of a spa, emulate one. It's that simple. Visit one and take in the paint colors they use to create the soothing, pampering environment. Some spas make use of dark shades to create cozy confines. Some create open, airy environments with layers of cloudy whites. Still others make use of watery blues and greens. Anything is fair game as long as you feel relaxed.
